Product Introduction

TPK-DG12F: twelve metal elements on a large-bore flange. Those three facts decide where it belongs — high-kW sets, large exhaust bore, sites that need fast dismantling. Over 90% particulate capture, and the element bank withdraws as a unit rather than one core at a time.

Detailed Overview

01 Product Overview

The AIFILTECH 12-Core Large-Flange Diesel Generator Exhaust Gas Purifier is a new-generation black smoke purifier developed by AIFILTECH using its own patented design. Its core is a TPS water-washable regenerative metal filter element (metal DPF, patent No. ZL 2018 1 0598975.7) made from special high-temperature-resistant, corrosion-resistant metal media through more than 30 processes. Particulate filtration efficiency reaches over 90%, regeneration by water washing takes about one minute, and the unit produces no secondary pollutants, has a long service life, withstands rough handling and keeps running costs low. It is suitable for diesel generator sets in data centres, hospitals, commercial complexes and factories. Nearly 5,000 sets are in service across China.

It uses a trapezoidal housing with twelve circular clamp-type access covers on the front face and a tapered contraction section at one end leading to a large-diameter flange that bolts directly to the generator set exhaust duct, giving smooth airflow and low pressure loss. Twelve parallel metal cores inside lower overall back pressure while maintaining efficiency, preventing power loss and abnormal temperature rise caused by excessive exhaust back pressure on high-power sets.

Configured around set power and the exhaust duct layout, with flange or clamp connection options; the multi-core parallel structure lowers overall back pressure while maintaining efficiency.

Working conditions: Generator sets have large displacement, high exhaust temperature and long running hours, so the purifier must be low-resistance, heat-resistant and easy to service so that back pressure does not affect output power.

02 Working Principle

Exhaust gas emitted by diesel engines enters the air inlet of the AIFILTECH exhaust filtration system. The gas, laden with carbon particles, passes from the outside to the inside through the TPS filter element, where the particles are captured by the element wall and the clean gas is discharged into the atmosphere from the air outlet.

Hot exhaust passes through the interface into the diffusion section and is distributed evenly to twelve parallel metal cores, where carbon particles are captured from the outside in; the cleaned gas is collected and discharged through the exhaust port. Because of the grouped parallel layout, an individual core can be pulled for service through its own access cover without disturbing the others.

As the engine runs continuously, carbon particles accumulate on the outer surface of the core and system back pressure gradually rises. Once back pressure reaches the set value, the machine can be stopped, the clamp removed, the core pulled out and rinsed clean under a tap, then reinstalled into the housing and the clamp retightened for further use — a cycle that repeats. Initial back pressure is as low as 1 kPa, so normal engine operation is barely affected. The specially designed particulate trap offers high soot-holding capacity and long service intervals with low maintenance. When back pressure reaches the preset value (generally 25 kPa), an alarm can be set to remind the operator to regenerate the core.

03 Advantages

  • Particulate filtration efficiency over 90%, with a measured light absorption coefficient below 0.5 m⁻¹;
  • Easy regeneration: 1-minute water-washing regeneration, reusable without damage;
  • Quick to fit: clamp-on design, removed and refitted in about 30 seconds;
  • No secondary pollutants;
  • Low total cost of ownership: the retrofit is straightforward and maintenance is simple;
  • The low-resistance structure and multi-core parallel layout keep back pressure from affecting output power, suiting standby sets that run continuously for long periods.
  • Twelve parallel cores with a matched flange or bypass butterfly-valve interface give smooth airflow and low local resistance; each access cover allows an individual core to be pulled without dismantling the unit.

04 Certification & Applications

The unit was tested by an independent laboratory holding CMA and CNAS accreditation; the measured light absorption coefficient was below 0.5 m⁻¹.

Since the AIFILTECH water-washable regenerative metal purifier was successfully developed, the core product has passed nearly 5,000 installations in the after-treatment market and has become a main equipment supplier for non-road diesel retrofit programmes in China. The company joined the non-road retrofit programme in Nanjing back in 2018 and has since completed nearly 1,000 installations there, with users now spread across the country. These units run daily at Beijing Capital, Guangzhou Baiyun, Xiamen, Nanchang and Nanning airports, and at port terminals, in corporate vehicle fleets and on construction sites.

Typical applications: diesel generator sets in data centres, hospitals, commercial complexes and factories. The model is already in volume service in these applications, with selection calculation, installation guidance and commissioning support provided.

Sizing & selection Q&A

Which rating fits my machine?

Same displacement usually shares one unit across engine brands, so the plate photo is enough to match it.

What smoke opacity can it hold?

The test conditions sit in the datasheet. What counts after installation is the re-test reading, not the catalogue number.

Do I ship the core back for regeneration?

No return shipment. Pull the unit, rinse the core, clamp it back — the substrate is reused, not consumed.

Can it be fitted before an inspection date?

Direct fit, no pipe cutting, and a single unit goes on inside an inspection window. The clamp design also comes off fast.

How do I match a foreign test method?

Send the local test method and limit value; the model and the acceptance evidence are matched to that method rather than to a generic claim.
