Wheel Loader Black Smoke Purifier

Purification rate 90%
Filter life Washable metal cores
Regeneration 1-minute water wash
Customisation Built to engine model

Product Introduction

The smoke is thickest in the few minutes a loader spends at full throttle filling a truck. This unit is sized for that short, heavily loaded cycle; the metal element takes repeated thermal shock and is cleaned by washing. TN-3 to TN-12 cover small and mid-size loaders, flanged to the original pipe.

Detailed Overview

01 Product Introduction

The Wheel Loader black smoke purifier is a new-generation black smoke purifier developed by AIFILTECH using its own patented design. Its core is a TPS water-washable regenerative metal filter element (metal DPF, patent No. ZL 2018 1 0598975.7) made from special high-temperature-resistant, corrosion-resistant metal media through more than 30 processes. Particulate filtration efficiency reaches over 90%, regeneration by water washing takes about one minute, and the unit produces no secondary pollutants, has a long service life, withstands rough handling and keeps running costs low. It is suitable for wheel loaders in aggregate yards, batching plants, mines and coal yards. Nearly 5,000 sets are in service across China.

Configured for the high displacement and smoke density of wheel loaders, core count and flow area are matched to engine displacement, and the all-metal structure withstands sustained heat and vibration under heavy-duty cycles.

Working conditions: Wheel loaders work under heavy load in dusty environments with high smoke opacity and sharply varying duty cycles, calling for high soot capacity and strong thermal-shock resistance.

02 Working Principle

Exhaust gas emitted by diesel engines enters the air inlet of the AIFILTECH exhaust filtration system. The gas, laden with carbon particles, passes from the outside to the inside through the TPS filter element, where the particles are captured by the element wall and the clean gas is discharged into the atmosphere from the air outlet.

Hot exhaust enters the housing and passes through the outer surface of the core into the element body; black smoke and carbon particles are blocked on the outer surface, and the cleaned gas is collected through the core outlet and discharged from the exhaust port.

As the engine runs continuously, carbon particles accumulate on the outer surface of the core and system back pressure gradually rises. Once back pressure reaches the set value, the machine can be stopped, the clamp removed, the core pulled out and rinsed clean under a tap, then reinstalled into the housing and the clamp retightened for further use — a cycle that repeats. Initial back pressure is as low as 1 kPa, so normal engine operation is barely affected. The specially designed particulate trap offers high soot-holding capacity and long service intervals with low maintenance. When back pressure reaches the preset value (generally 25 kPa), an alarm can be set to remind the operator to regenerate the core.

04 Certifications & Application Cases

The unit was tested by an independent laboratory holding CMA and CNAS accreditation; the measured light absorption coefficient was below 0.5 m⁻¹.

Since the AIFILTECH water-washable regenerative metal purifier was successfully developed, the core product has passed nearly 5,000 installations in the after-treatment market and has become a main equipment supplier for non-road diesel retrofit programmes in China. The company joined the non-road retrofit programme in Nanjing back in 2018 and has since completed nearly 1,000 installations there, with users now spread across the country. These units run daily at Beijing Capital, Guangzhou Baiyun, Xiamen, Nanchang and Nanning airports, and at port terminals, in corporate wheel loader fleets and on construction sites.

Typical applications: wheel loaders in aggregate yards, batching plants, mines and coal yards. The model is already in volume service in these applications, with selection calculation, installation guidance and commissioning support provided.

Sizing & selection Q&A

How do I know which model fits?

Models are sized by exhaust flow, not by vehicle length or badge power. Send the engine model, rated power or the plate photo and we confirm the exact unit.

How far does particulate drop after fitting?

The core traps particulate and the rating is stated per model under standard test conditions; field results follow exhaust flow and smoke load.

Does the core get replaced when it loads up?

No. The metal core is water-washed in about a minute and reused — unlike paper or ceramic substrates it is not a consumable.

Do I have to cut the exhaust line?

The unit replaces the silencer position with a matched sleeve or flange and clamps on in about 30 seconds. Chassis fittings stay untouched.

Will it pass the local inspection?

Limits and methods differ by market — opacity, loaded-mode and free-acceleration tests do not read the same number. Confirm the local method first, then size to it.
