FeCrAl fiber felt is a porous metal medium made of iron-chromium-aluminum alloy fiber by non-woven laying and high-temperature sintering, rated 1000-1150 C for continuous service and up to 1300 C peak. At high temperature a dense self-grown Al2O3 oxide layer forms on the fiber surface and blocks further oxidation - a self-healing protection mechanism ensuring long life. Compared with ceramic media it is tough (no brittleness or particle shedding), crack-free under frequent thermal cycling, vibration-resistant, and can be corrugated and welded. Its electric-heating-alloy nature makes it ideal for porous burners, industrial electric heating and hot-gas filtration.
